CECO ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTS NINE MONTH ORDER BOOKINGS UP 20.8%

NEW YORK, October 05, 2004 - CECO Environmental Corp. (NASDAQ: CECE) today announced that orders booked for the nine months ended September 30, 2004 were $57,785,000 up 20.8% from the same period in 2003 and that this year's nine-month bookings are almost equivalent to the entire twelve months of 2003.

Phillip DeZwirek, Chairman and CEO stated, "after a record-bookings month in August of $15.5 million, September followed with over $7 million in new orders, up 92.4% from September 2003." Mr. DeZwirek also stated, "CECO's business remains strong and that although most of the recent upturn in business will not be reflected in CECO's third quarter ended September 30, 2004; it will result in a strong fourth quarter with a great head start into 2005."

Rick Blum, President and COO of CECO reported, "one of the most promising events of CECO's new bookings was a sizable order obtained by CECO's newly opened office in India with a strong indication of more to follow."
